It seems like so many amazing life experiences have taken place at the beach. Growing up an hour away from the beach was always a good thing, but I really didn't appreciate as much as I do now. I'm going to Hawaii in July and for the first time in my life I will be in water up to my neck.....,and still be able to see my feet!! So wild!! Maybe I'm destine to live near a beach or be with a love at a beach? Only time will tell. Until next time!!

I've always had a thing for lighthouses and how they are used. It tells sailors when they are close to shore and close to those they are trying to get home to. It's a testament to the construction of most of the houses that were made in the 1700 and 1800's. They take a beating in strong storms and hurricanes but still last, kinda like a person who has been beaten down and keeps getting up!! Amazing. It's time for me to take some trips down to the shore and see some. Guide me home to the one I love.

Artist Profile: The Art of Kat Ford and Corpirate

Something new I wanted to start this year was an artist direct profile on some of my favorite people and the art they do. When I say art, it means their passion, their job, and their lives. I've always believed that true art form takes place in everything you do. So this year you will see painters, sculptors, leather craftsmen, mechanics, etc. They will in some way or another have inspired me and made me want to be just a passionate to my crafts and life.

So for the first in the series is an artist that I was introduced to by a long time friend of mine about a year ago. I've been very blessed in my 32 years on earth to have close friends that really know art and get it as well. I would only know about half of what I know if it wasn't for them. When I started looking at this particular artist I was amazed at the range of her talents. She could paint, she could draw, she designed clothes, metal and tin work, and she can take fantastic photographs as well. To be honest the one major thing that pulled me towards her work was the perfect lines and wild designs of skulls that have made Kat Ford a favorite of mine since I started feeling her work this time last year.

I'm no art critic and I usually like things people hate i.e graffiti, line drawings, and perfect lettering. So it comes to a surprise to the people I show Kat's work, that they really love it. She blends Rock N Roll, Southwest, Country, Punk, and Latin America into every piece that she does and makes it look like it's all natural and meant to be born that way. Not the easiest thing to do in the world. If you go to her companies website Corpirate, you will see the limitlessness to her talents. There are honestly so many pieces to choose from to be called favorites, so I posted the ones I like and love the most. What is also amazing about the art on her site is that each piece will tell you a story. You see some artist will just give you a title and present you with a piece of art then you have to make up your own thoughts about it. I really like that Kat gives the onlooker her personal story and bares her soul to you. Something that I think is very rare in the art world today. It's a connection I'm sure you will all enjoy.
